iPosita
Situation
The National Post Office (iPosita) is one of the oldest institutions in Rwanda and faces similar challenges to legacy post offices around the world: delivering communication and packages to consumers with greater demands for speed (at a lower cost), competing with a host of international and digital logistics companies, while possessing the equipment and organizational culture of the past that struggles to keep up with the pace of change. In the face of such challenges, iPosita has experienced diminishing market share and the consumer perception that their service delivery is no longer adequate.
Karisimbi Partners’ Approach
iPosita needed to chart a bold transformation to become the “Post Office of the Future”. At the request of the Ministry of ICT, Karisimbi Partners dove in, gathering insights related to what is possible by studying the successful transformations of other legacy post offices in search of a digital transformation. The resulting strategy called for redefining the institution (new name, mission, legal structure and private-sector mentality, etc.), improving service delivery (e.g. speed) with the benefit of automation and digital efficiencies, and engaging a number of key strategic partners to accelerate the transformation in areas where iPosita was not yet strong.
Results
2022 marks the 100 year anniversary of this important institution. Led by innovative and powerful stakeholders that wish to see iPosita transformed into a digital leader among African post offices, 2022 will be the year that a new National Post Office is unveiled as an organization re-positioned and equipped to serve every person and organization in Rwanda.
